History

CKRe has always been associated with the London insurance market and Lloyd’s, having been founded in 1998 in the City of London by Peter King. Whilst offering international reinsurance facilities in all classes of insurance and providing broking support to direct clients, the company became well known as a leader in African reinsurance. This was largely based on Peter King’s respected expert knowledge and affinity with the continent having lived and worked in Africa for many years and being responsible for setting up reinsurance companies there.

Having grown over the years, the CKRe shareholders felt the time had arrived to sell the business which they did in 2015 to Terra Administrators, a Lloyd’s cover holder. Since the acquisition by Terra in 2015, CKRe has invested and developed into a specialist global insurance and reinsurance broker, building on its African expertise and enhancing this with capabilities in global multi-class insurance and reinsurance broking in emerging and developed countries, power and renewable energy, healthcare, private client, cyber solutions, financial institutions and credit and political risk. This niche expertise will continue to develop as the business continues to invest in leading insurance specialists.

The strategic aim of the business is simple: to help our clients and partners succeed by bringing fresh insight, exceptional value and responsive service to everything we do. Maybe a theme that is echoed elsewhere but the difference is our passion and energy to make it happen.
